Domestic abuse can mean any kind of violent, threatening or controlling behaviour between people in a relationship. The abuse can be from a partner, ex-partner or a family member and it can happen to anyone.
Birmingham Community Safety Partnership continues to work in partnership at a strategic and local level to reduce domestic abuse and increase awareness.
The five Local Community Safety Partnerships focus on a partnership approach to dealing with offenders and supporting victims at a local level. We support and work in partnership with the Domestic Abuse Partnership Board and their 6 priorities.
The 6 priorities are:
- Priority 1 –Whole Systems Approach
- Priority 2 –Prevention–Changing Attitudes and Behaviours
- Priority 3 –Prevention–Early Identification and Help
- Priority 4 –Children and young people are protected.
- Priority 5 –Safety Support and Recovery
- Priority 6 –Hold perpetrators to account
To assist in dealing with domestic abuse, forced marriage, honour based violence and Female Genital Mutilation (FGM) Engagement, Birmingham’s Community Safety team commissioned Birmingham and Solihull Women’s Aid to deliver a project to raise awareness, give 1-2-1 support to victims and to increase of knowledge among professionals.
