Ending Male Violence Against Women & Girls

The Birmingham Community Safety Partnership is working with internal and external partners to reduce the impact of male violence against women and girls in Birmingham.

Violence Against Women and Girls (VAWG) refers to acts of violence and/or abuse that disproportionately affects women and girls and is recognised as a function of gender inequality.

We know that there is a higher occurrence of male perpetrators of violence against women and girls, however these acts can be committed by individuals of any gender, and men and boys are affected by these issues too.

It is important to acknowledge that these acts can be perpetrated by anyone, not just partners in a domestic relationship, but also family members, friends/acquaintances and strangers.

Officers within the Community Safety Team have established a working group that will help develop the Ending Male Violence Against Women and Girls Strategy in Birmingham. This includes working with third sector providers.
