Neighbour Disputes

Neighbour disputes do not necessarily constitute harassment or antisocial behaviour and they are usually based on disagreements rather than civil or criminal offences.

If you have a dispute with your neighbour, try discussing the problem with them.

If you’re worried about speaking to them, you could consider writing them a letter, explaining the problem clearly and sticking to the facts.

If the problem affects other neighbours, it might be useful to get them involved. Sometimes, it can be easier to settle a dispute if the complaint comes from a number of people.

If your neighbour is a tenant, you could also contact their landlord for further assistance. Some landlords will be a housing associations. You can find a list of some housing associations in Birmingham on the Birmingham City Council website

If the dispute escalates to anti-social behaviour, please follow this link and report it to Birmingham City Council on the BCC ASB and Neighbour Disputes webpage
